High Sierra Music Festival 2 July 2015

High Sierra Music Festival

High Sierra Music Festival is a multi-day music festival held in Quincy, California, a mountainous area about 80 miles northwest of Reno, Nevada. The festival is held each year the weekend of July 4.

The High Sierra Music Festival turns 25 years old this year and they’ve just announced the first batch of bands that’ll help them celebrate. The String Cheese Incident tops the list and it certainly speaks to the history of the small-town festival. SCI last headlined High Sierra in 1999 just before the event moved from Bear Valley to its new home in Quincy. SCI and High Sierra helped break into the mainstream together so it’s only fitting they reunite for the 25th. Something not to be overlooked is the inclusion of The Slip who haven’t played together since 2012–we at LIVE are very much looking forward to those reunion sets under the Plumas pines. Other LIVE favorites include ALO, The Wood Brothers, The California Honey drops and more; check out the lineup below…

High Sierra has always been the Little Engine that could chugging along with competitive lineups against stiff competition on Fourth of July weekend every year. They’ve previously raced against Rothbury (now Electric Forrest), Phish’s Super Ball, and now that will hold true again this year with competition from The Dead’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, FARE THEE WELL in Chicago. The choice for me was an easy one…I’ve haven’t felt the grass of the Plumas County Fairgrounds in over two years so I’m itching to get back to Big Meadow.
Expect the second round of artist announcements in March if history serves us right. Grab your FestivALL, General Admission and RV passes while they’re hot. This is going to be a good one!

Meta Referrer Tag is an advance for SEO and Online Marketing

The movement to make the Internet more secure through HTTPS brings several useful advancements for webmasters. In addition to security improvements, HTTPS promises future technological advances and potential SEO benefits for marketers. HTTPS in search results is rising. Recent MozCast data from Dr. Pete shows nearly 20% of first page Google results are now HTTPS. Sadly, HTTPS also has its downsides. Marketers run into their first challenge when they switch regular HTTP sites over to HTTPS. Technically challenging, the switch typically involves routing your site through a series of 301 redirects. Historically, these types of redirects are associated with a loss of link equity (thought to be around 15%) which can lead to a loss in rankings. This can offset any SEO advantage that Google claims switching. Ross Hudgens perfectly summed it up in this tweet: Many SEOs have anecdotally shared stories of HTTPS sites performing well in Google search result...

How digital marketing can help local banks attract – and keep – customers

The days of most companies solely turning to print media and television ads to market their products and services are long gone. But some community banks have been slow to get the message and are missing out on instituting strong digital and social media strategies to draw and retain new customers. “In general, banks have a case of marketing myopia. They are fixed into the rhythm and routine of what they’ve done in the years past,” said Jacques Hart, CEO of Miami-based Roar Media. “However, the media and social media landscape has been turned upside down and a 'years-past mentality' doesn’t cut it.” Because of regulations in place to protect customer and bank information, a financial institution has to be very cautious with its marketing, and that can slow a bank’s social media strategy. That's particularly true of smaller banks that often lack the resources needed for a full-blown digital marketing team. ...
